Dr Andrew McClure graduated in Medicine from Sydney University in 1981. After two years residency at Concord Hospital and four years’ service as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, he trained in Psychiatry at the Liverpool, Cumberland and Westmead Hospitals, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1993.
He has worked as a staff psychiatrist with the Orange Area Health Service and until 2001 was a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to the Mid-Western Area Health Service (Orange) and the Corrections Health Service (Bathurst, Kirkconnell and Lithgow Correctional Centres). He has been a Consultant to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), and continues as a VMO with Justice Health (Lithgow CC)
Dr McClure has been engaged in private psychiatric practice, including medicolegal assessments, since February 1994. He has provided detailed assessment reports for many plaintiff and defendant solicitors, insurance companies, Federal and State Departments and the Courts. He has undertaken the Motor Accident Authority Assessors training. He is a Medical Assessor for the NSW Personal Injury Commission and was an Authorised Report Writer for the NSW Victims Compensation Tribunal between 2000 and mid-2018, when the scheme was finally closed.
